What I think about the Steam Boxes
As you may have already known various companies released their take on the steam boxes. Starting at $499 you could but a steam box later this year. Is it really worth it? The steam box will compete with the PS4 and the XB1, but will it sway the average gamer to go PC? I myself think that steam boxes defeat the true purpose of PC gaming, due to the fact that the steam boxes will be used with a controller not the traditional keyboard/mouse. The steam boxes will be running on Steam OS which is based on Linux, limiting the games you can play, the big titles right now: Dota 2, TF2, and Metro Last Light. Even though into the future I see all games being released onto Linux, right now Windows is the way to go. Steam Boxes will really thrive with people who just are lazy and don't want to build their own PC, but building your own PC will always rain supreme.

First Post, 450 dollar Gaming PC build
At this budget we have to cheap out on some parts but, they still work well. 450 dollars is a great starting point for your average PC gamer or the transferring console gamer. This build does include Windows 7, but if you don't have to money just buy the parts and load the upcoming Steam OS. For the CPU I chose the AMD Athlon II X4 750K which is great CPU because it is quad core, and had great performance for a mid range PC, this CPU is also overclockable which is nice because down the line you can pop in a CPU cooler and OC it to meet your needs. I grabbed a Gigabyte GA-F2A55M-HD2 for the motherboard. Gigabyte is a good brand. This Mobo is cheap yet has some key features like HDMI. For memory I grabbed a Crucial Ballistix Sport 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory which cheap, good brand, 1600, and 4gb which will be enough for this build, you can also stick another one of these into your mobo for an upgrade. I chose a 1tb Hitachi hard drive for storage, cheap fast and large amount of space to store a ton of games. or the GPU I grabbed a XFX Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB this GPU is amazing, it can run all of your lower end games (League of Legends, Team Fortress 2, CSGO, and more) at high settings. For your higher end games like BF4 or Crysis 3 at 720p like bliss. I got a Rosewill Galaxy-01 ATX Mid Tower for the case. This case is only 30 dollars, it is big enough to house all your parts and easy to build with. For the PSU I went with the Corsair Builder 430W, this PSU if great, it is reliable and 80+ Bronze rating. For the OS like I said before we grabbed Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. All in all this build is great all adding up to 457.91 dollars as of January 11.
